About Me

My photo
I'm a mid twenties girl. Who has the cutest two boys ever. I'm married to the best hubby ever (aka the Man). I'm also a teacher of sixth grade with a masters degree in Education. I'd rather be busy than bored. I love things bright and beautiful and my family means the world to me.

Top 10 Tuesday!

So I already had a top 10 written but after today's long meeting I have a new list.

Top 10 Things I Would Rather do Than Pay Attention to Another Meeting on Teaching Standards
(could that title be any longer??)

10 Watch what other teachers are doing while NOT paying attention
9 Alphabetize the handouts provided
8 Create 3 different lists ( have I mentioned my love of lists)
7 Color in every o and e on the handout
6 Get a massage ( I probably can't do this in the same room, but I might consider it)
5 List potential baby names (no bun in the oven though)
4 Doodle on my notes
3 Think about what we could have for lunch
2 Mentally pack our entire house (which only took about two minutes)
1 Plan what I'm going to wear to school for the next week

Next time I'm bringing the lap top to check my e-mail, type up a newsletter or read up on my favorite blogs. I mean to be productive and search new lessons and procedures to better instruct my students.

*Don't assume I do this every meeting, today actually had some good seminars, but there was one that was in a stuffy room and completely redundant- tell me you've been in the same situation before!!

Mean girl syndrome!

So there are officially some mean girls in our sixth grade. Name calling, lying, pushing, some back stabbing, it's hit for sure!

I don't know about you but I HATED middle school. It was horrible, I don't even remember what we really learned I just remember how clueless and ignorant the teachers were. There were days I went home and cried. I still remember getting home one day and my mom calling the school and reaming my principal out. Sure she could have handled it better but my mom is definitely not one to mess with. I went to a school where you were a "have" or a "have not". Plus, I went through a super shy, awkward faze. That and my parents were not about to indulge in my need to be fashionable or trendy. If you weren't a cheerleader or basketball player forget it. I wish I was kidding but after talking with some friends since college we have the same memories.

Anyways, that was forever ago. But I see it now with some of our girls and its so sad. Especially now when it's not just in school but through their email and facebook. So I talked with a team mate today and we're going to do something. This has to stop now before they really get lost next year.

Sorry for odd topic, but its crazy these issues never go away. Time to work on tomorrow's post. Monday down, four more days to go :)

Top 10 Tuesday

I was so proud to write this on Sunday, but a crazy week made me forget about it. Without further ado-

Top 10 Things I want to accomplish before turning 30!

10. Create the art work for out downstairs- completely from scratch
9. Run at least a 10K
8. Make a Thanksgiving meal pretty much on my own
7. Learn to sew - hopefully along the lines of a quilt but a hem would suffice
6. Travel outside the county with the Man
5. Take T on an airplane ride somewhere (we've gone separately, never together)
4. Learn to change my own oil ( just once will be good enough)
3. Go to at least two more Nascar races with the Man (it sounds a little red neck but we had a blast on our honeymoon going to Bristol)
2. Have another baby ( this one can't all be on me)
1. Be at a school I love, in our completed home (basement included), with a happy family

Of course there are other things, winning the lottery would be great :) , but I wanted to be realistic. The Man and I both created a list last summer of things we want to accomplish throughout our lives. We've hung the lists up and every now and then take a look. Anything exciting you hope to accomplish?

A good day!

So the day started a bit early with a shift at Gap. Where I spotted these items my closet is beckoning for:
I love this skirt. We also have it in khaki, but the camo seems fun and I think I could talk the Man into it, he likes girls in camo (not the actually hunting gear however.) But the khaki would be better for school.
I love a good scarf, and with all the color options- YUM!
When Gap designs a good fit, I like to stock up. These could just be my new favorites. A nice replacement to the Trouser pant from a couple seasons ago.
This is my favorite typical weekend shirt. Simple cotton and so very comfy, love, love these!

When I got home we headed out to find the light fixtures for the house. Then we of course drove by the lot to see if anything was happening AND THERE WAS. I've never been so excited to see spray paint on snow before. Basically they had marked where pipes and buried lines in preparation to dig, an excavator was also at the lot. I know it's not very exciting, but it will be.
We hung around the house, the Man was loading some programs he needed for school. Including Microsoft 7.0 which I guess is very exciting. Even better was that he installed a voice recognition system that allows you to control everything by voice command. It was funny for the first couple of minutes then it was kind of annoying. Worse yet when he tried to voice command me to fold the laundry differently.
We headed out to our fave BBQ place and for some reason stopped over for a slice of pie. Needless to say I'm stuffed! I love being able to hangout and talk, plan or just relax together. But the T man just got home so I'm off. Happy weekend!

Top 10 Tuesday

So I'm borrowing the idea of list of 10 from Brit over at Dave and Brit plus One
http://daveandbritplusone.blogspot.com/

Instead of her list this week, a soundtrack of her life. I had a different idea. These are my top 10 favorite songs on my I-touch right now. I've had to update it know that I'm running more and it helps with the monotony of driving back and forth to work. Without further ado:

Top 10 Songs on My I-touch
10. One Time by Justin Bieber (yes he might be 14 or something but it's a cute song)
9. Cowboy Take me Away (Dixie Chicks, played this at our wedding reception, so sweet)
8. Battlefield by Jordan Sparks ( I LOVE to belt this in my car, love, love)
7. Rock and Roll by Eric Hutchinson (you've heard this, google it if you can't remember it, its worth it)
6. La la La by LMFAO (i loved this since hearing it on the Real World last season)
5. Meet Me Halfway by Black Eyed Peas
4. Live Your Life by TI
3. Sexy Chick by David Guetta with Akon (fun to run to)
2. Kiss Kiss by Chris Brown (yeah, yeah I know the whole Rihanna drama, but he still has other talent)
1. TiK ToK by Ke$ha (odd name, but clicky kinda song)

This is actually a poor representation of what music I listen to, but when it comes to running and mellowing out in the car you need certain music right? What songs do you find yourself singing to in the car?

*One more thing, it hopes of shedding a few (okay 9 lbs) of holiday poundage check out using the Daily plate on the Livestrong.com site. I read about it from Christin over at A Southern, Classy Bride. It's enlightening to know what you're actually eating throughout the day.

What can I say.....

The Man knows his way to my heart. I've had something on my Christmas list for the past three years. I've really, really wanted a label maker. It sounds ridiculous, but as a teacher and super (sometimes) organized mom I've wanted everything to have a place, a pretty labeled place.
The other night the Man came home, had me close my eyes, then set a bag in my lap. Sure enough there was this:
I literally teared up. Which is sad, but I was so very excited and its just that time in my cycle (but don't tell the Man that). I so touched that he picked one out for me. So sweet. I just love this guy.

This weekend I had broke the Man from his shell a little bit more. I introduced him to TJ Maxx. We stopped in to look for accessories to our bathroom. We scored and found a toilet paper holder, large towel bar, hand towel bar, and robe hook all for $25. Plus as I was looking through some home accents the Man found a painting he liked, and it was actually really nice. (Sorry honey, sometimes your taste is odd.) I can't wait to show it off in our dining room, once we have one of course.

Have a wonderful week all!

He's cheating on me.

I've always trusted him, why wouldn't I? Right? Lately he's come home talking about this girl he's met. She's very nice, very pretty and funny. At first it wasn't a big deal she was just someone he met one day. Now he's started talking about her almost everyday.

He hasn't acted any different, I know he still loves me- I could never question that. But today my heart cracked a little. I took him to school and there in his cubby was a picture of him and Holly. Holly the firefighter. She came to school with her fire truck and fancy outfit, talked about putting out fires and showed off her helmet. Now my four year old is in love with her.

I thought we would make it until he was like 7 before he met a new woman.

Happy Friday!

The countdown begins

So when we negotiated with the builders we had to move our closing date to the end of April. So that means I have 16 Wednesdays, hopefully just 15 to get my stuff done. Why Wednesdays you might ask, the Man has school Wednesdays and Thursdays nights and T spends the night at Grandmas on Wednesday. Therefore, I get a lot done. On top of my usual Wednesday night activities i.e. laundry, grading, random pickup I will be attacking these projects-
  • Go through T's toys- it's crazy how much this kid has accumulated over the years.
  • Get an organizing system for T's toys, costumes, tools, puzzles, games, etc.
  • Go through our files- my dad taught me what things are important to keep and how to be organized, I took it a step further and kept almost everything. I want to go through and trash or shred whatever we don't need
  • Organize our CD's and DVD's, I like them in alphabetical order and together- right now CD's are haphazardly but on the shelves and our DVD's are pretty spread out
  • Go through my closet (and the Man's secretly) we all know we have things we keep just because, no more just because keeping
  • Go through my desk, I really don't want to keep our desk it's so bulky so I want to clean that out too
  • Explore a few shops around town for a dining room table and desk- I love the idea of refinishing rather than buying these new
  • Start organizing the packing, it's sad, but typical me- there will be a simple yet efficient system to our moving

That should be pretty good, at least a good start. I have little stuff to get done on our weekends but I like to keep those pretty clear for fun things.

On another note spring wear is coming out. Gap has lots of cute cardigans, tops, and sweaters I would love to snap up. Old Navy and J. Crew is full of cute buys. Yes I realize they are on different ends of the spectrum but a girl has to shop around. I'm realizing that I need to branch out on where I shop. I hate spending a ton on trendy things that only last a couple months but I enjoy being trendy. Any recommendations?

Hope you had a nice hump day!

We got it!

I wish I had a great picture of us on our lot, but being that it's been below zero the last two days I wasn't about to stand outside longer than necessary. We submitted our offer late Wednesday and settled everything. We only negotiated on one thing, the builders have to extend the house 2 feet in width and height to meet the neighborhood covnence. Today we went back to the house we fell in love with to take note of what colors, trim work, cabinets, everything basically that we liked to make sure we specify in building ours. We already have to go in Monday afternoon to pick out everything. So very exciting. I can't wait to see what else the year brings. So far, so GREAT!

How is your new year so far?
